Rock-Throwing Vandal Damages Fire Truck, Other Targets In Capital Region, Police Say

A 33-year-old man is accused of vandalizing a fire station and other targets in the region.

Albany County resident Michael Cooper, age 33, of Cohoes, was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal mischief Thursday, July 11.

Cohoes Police said officers were called to the city’s fire department on Central Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. that evening for vandalism to a fire truck. The vehicle’s windshield had been shattered by a rock, leaving nearly $1,500 in damage.

Investigators identified Cooper as the suspected perpetrator and arrested him a short time later.

He is expected to face additional charges in connection with several other incidents in recent weeks, including a broken window at the same fire station and damage to a vehicle, home, and business.

Cooper was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and taken to the Albany County jail.
